Flooring Innovation with SetaGrip Flooring Technology
NuFlors, Inc. Receives EFA Product Innovation Award for Groundbreaking SetaGrip Glue Free LVT Flooring Technology.
NuFlors, a prominent player in the Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) flooring market, has been awarded the bronze accolade at this year’s Environments for Aging (EFA) event for its innovative, patent-pending flooring technology, SetaGripâ„¢.
Setagrip Glue Free LVT Technology
SetaGrip Glue Free LVT Technology was introduced by NuFlors to the flooring sector in January of this year as a groundbreaking installation method for LVT flooring. This technology was integrated into their manufacturing process to provide a cost-effective and efficient flooring solution. The patent-pending vacuum suction layer of SetaGrip employs micro-sized pores to create a robust adhesion that addresses the installation and maintenance challenges associated with other LVT products and methods.
This flooring manufacturer has developed a product that eliminates the need for glue during installation. One juror remarked on this innovative technology, highlighting its ability to remove the VOCs associated with adhesives and the challenges of replacing individual tiles.

About NuFlors
NuFlorsâ„¢ began its journey in the flooring industry by sourcing PVC tiles for a major importer in New England in 1990. As the industry progressed, NuFlors shifted its focus towards developing advanced technologies for what is now recognized as Luxury Vinyl Tiles (LVT) and commercial sheet vinyl (CSV).
For over a decade, NuFlors has concentrated on providing private-label products to leading flooring manufacturers in the United States. Their commitment to flooring innovation has led to the creation and launch of the pioneering, patent-pending SetaGripâ„¢ Technology flooring system. “We have initiated research and development for wall panels and other home improvement products and are eager to see how this technology will evolve,” stated David J Kim, Managing Partner of NuFlors.
Key Features
- Core concept: Setagrip™ replaces traditional glues with vacuum, negative fluid pressure, and millions of microscopic suction cups that lock the floor to any flat, non‑porous surface.
- How it works: When the plank is pressed, the suction cups generate a large vacuum, producing a strong holding force capable of supporting heavy loads. The bond is reversible—the floor can be removed cleanly without residue, making it reusable.
- Benefits: Eliminates solvent emissions, speeds up installation, and avoids the need for click or loose‑lay systems that often require supplemental adhesive.
Product Constructions
The flooring plank is built from six distinct layers, each serving a specific function:
| Constructions | Key Functions |
|---|---|
| Crosslinked Urethane Coating with Ceramic Beads | Provides durability and scratch resistance; creates natural wood‑grain texture via vacuum hot‑pressed embossing. |
| Super Clear Wear Layer (22 mil) | Pure polymer layer for maximum visual clarity; embossing plates press through for realistic texture. |
| High‑Definition Imaging Layer | 6‑color high‑resolution print reproduces wood grain with vivid detail. |
| Vinyl Core Backing (kaolin clay) | Offers dimensional stability, impact attenuation, and soft underfoot feel. |
| Setagripâ„¢ Vacuum Suction Layer | Generates the suction bond described above. |
| Protective Release Liner | Temporary cover that keeps the suction layer clean until installation. |
